Ann is our fabulous Guest this month and today she has a wonderful project tutorial to share:

Her step by step:

I start by creating a quick tissue tape collage by tearing strips of tape and adhering them to a milk paper. Then covered all with gesso. In the lower left and upper right corner adding die-cut.

 I dabbed a variety of Distress paint and Dabber over to add colour. Sprinkle the gold texture spray.

Attached the burlap to the cardstock and die cut #8 tag shape. Place layering stencil over burlap and apply texture paste through part of the stencil.  Let it dry. Ink over area with distress ink.

 Stamp the images, color them using Distress ink and Distress marker. Cut them down.

Mixed Media Wednesday~May 13th~Mid Month Inspiration

Welcome Back!

It is Wednesday, kim here today! I wanted to share a mixed media canvas I made, hope you like it and have time to play Tic Tac Toe with us! Any three in a row makes us happy :) Fill in the whole board for the optional twist and have fun!!

This time I managed three in a row twice. Tape, chipboard and stamp. Then again with gesso, stencil and chipboard.

The substrate is cardboard. I prepped it using some gesso then stenciled it with some texture paste. The blues and purples are Dylusions Ink Sprays. 

To make the flowers, I stamped and stenciled with acrylic paints all over some deli wrap paper. Once dry I used my Tim Holtz Tattered Floral die to make flowers. I adore making my own flowers :)

I wanted the flowers bouncy so they are attached with 18g wire to the back of the brads holding the layers together.

The brown is dry wall tape. I covered it with some texture paste. Once dry I added some crackle medium to it. More drying time. Then bent it a bit to add more cracks then colored it with alcohol inks. To attach the flower stems I looped the wire through the holes and hot glued to the backside.

My love of old books and image transfer come into play once again. A simple piece but sometimes I think it is good to challenge yourself in a less is more kinda way?

The main components to this journal page are -

• Old Key
• Heart cut from layers of book paper glued together
• Barbed wire chippy ( Dusty Attic)
• Micro Beads (Finnabair)
• Velvet effect paper
• Cupid image transferred on to book paper ( Technique covered in my April post)
• Text cut from an old French book ( Flea market find)

First create a heart shaped mask slightly smaller than the book paper heart.
PVA around the edges and apply a liberal amount of  micro beads

 

 

That is as technical as it gets. The skill is in controlling the micro beads, they are slippery little suckers!

The rest is all down to composition and a good smattering of gold paint applied with the flick of a toothbrush and a few stitches machine sewn around the edge.

Mixed Media Wednesday

Hi, Hazel here with my piece for Mixed Media Wednesday.

I covered a 7"x 5" canvas board with dictionary paper, when the glue was dry I stuck down pieces of very sticky masking tape and pulled it of, this removed some of the paper leaving some of the underside that had stuck to the glue showing, I also scraped bits of with my finger nail.

I gave the page a wash with watered down acrylic paint and put other colours on with my finger.

I stamped some crackle and flowers, then I splattered some white acrylic paint over it.

The flower and sentiment were stamped and embossed. I used the stem of the flower to go round the edge, The butterflies were stamped onto previously coloured card and cut out, I painted a glossy accents over them.

Kaiserkraft - crackle stamp.

Visible Image - flower and sentiment stamp.

Innovative Stamp Creations - butterflies.

Archival Ink - black and French ultramarine.

Creative adventure

Hi! Lucyna here with my piece for Art Journal Monday.
It WAS really a creative adventure!
I started with gessoing the whole page in my art journal which, to tell you the truth
is an old book.
Then I applied translucent embossing paste through the stencil.
I dabbed a variety of Distress inks over to add colour.
Next I used my fav media- Gelatos.
I did some stamping with Archival ink  and to complete the page I glued the girl fussy cut from a magazine.

Hey there Mixed Media Mojo fans it's May and time for another challenge!  I can't believe how fast the months are flying by it seems like yesterday I was typing up April's challenge!

"My name is Ann Chuang and I live in Taiwan. I am a junior high school math teacher and a mom. I started crafting about 2012. At that time, I started making very simple cards that would take me hours to make, but the look of pure joy that people give you after receiving a handmade card is worth every second! I have always liked creating, inspiration comes from random places.  I love project making in different styles and have no set style. I love sharing my love of stamping/cardmaking/mixed media with everyone & I'm really looking forward to sharing my creations with all of you!
