Spring canvas tutorial

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to my Spring canvas tutorial  in Mixed Media Mojo blog.
This time I made it with a lot of Iridescent Ann Butler's paint and other ESF mediums, chipboards, stamping over chipboards and a lot more techniques. It has a very rich textured background  and I hope that you like this project.
Step by step instructions:
1.Cover the canvas with ESF Gesso and add some Tando chipboards over. Cover the chipboards with gesso too. Let it dry.

2.Paint the canvas with a mix of ESF Chalk It Up Avocado  Pie and Key Lime paints.

3.Paint the canvas with a mix of ESF Ann Butler's Iridescents paints: Lilac, Lagoon and Ocean Surf. Make the  thick layer of those paints and stamp over the wet paint with  a small jar lid to make those stamped circles all over the wet canvas.

4.Heat the whole surface with a heat gun to get those " bubbles and dots" over the wet paint.

5. Partly cover the canvas with ESF Crackle to get more texture. Let it dry. When dry, mist with gold mist to get the golden look for the canvas.

6.  Stamp over 5 chipboard butterflies with Ann Butler's Unity Faux Quilting stamps (I used just two of them) using clear embossing ink and white embossing powder. This step is not shown on the photos. Paint the corner chipboard and all stamped butterflies with more ESF Iridescents paints and wipe the paint over heat embossed areas. Arrange the corner and the butterflies as shown.

7. Outline the chipboards with black pen. Glue the Tim Holtz sticker on the bottom of your canvas.

Discovering May Flowers Art Journal Page

Hello, Deb here today to share an art journal page with you that I made with our May challenge theme in mind, which is Flowers with the added twist of Stitching, either real or faux.

I added lots of flowers to my art journal page in the form of die cuts, stamping, stencils and some free hand drawing and added both real and faux stitching.

7

I started out with a sheet of 8 1/2" x 11" white cardstock and smooshed it through a couple of shades of yellow Distress stains and then dropped the darker shade of yellow randomly over the page with a pipette

I then sprayed orange Distress stain spray through a couple of floral stencils (and then made some stencil monoprints by turning the stencil over and patting it onto a couple of more sheets of cardstock which I'll use on a future project, waste not want not!)

Next I replaced the clean and dry stencils overtop of the sprayed images and outlined them in black with a paint pen.  I also outlined the drops of darker Distress stain to make some free form flowers with both white and black paint pens and added a few dots in the centers of each for stamens.

Background stamping came next with a variety of stamps and archival ink, I did second and third generations of stamping so it wouldn't be too prominent.

I then cut the sheet of cardstock in half and trimmed it to size to fit in my journal and sewed a line of stitching around the edges of both half sheets on my sewing machine.

I glued the sewn pages into my art journal and spattered them with orange, black and white acrylic paints thinned with water.

I stamped the cone flower (from Tim Holtz's Flower Garden stamp set) three times and stamped the stem once and water coloured them with various shades of Distress inks.  All of the flower heads and the stem were then fussy cut.

To bring in another stitching element, I die cut one of the Stitched Ovals and a couple of borders from Core-dinations black cardstock and gently sanded them to highlight the stitched detail.

More flowers were die cut from black cardstock with the Wildflowers die

and a tag was die cut from black cardstock and stamped with the 'discovering' quote from Tim Holtz's Perspective stamp set.  The sentiment was embossed with white embossing powder and a faux stitching detail was added around the edges of the tag with a white paint pen.

And then all the elements were added to the prepared journal pages, here are a few close up pics of the finished pages.

The cone flower was layered with pop dots between each of the layers, love the dimension!

Having said that though, I'm going to have to cut my art journal apart and rebind it because it's already so fat I can't close it!

Thanks so much for stopping by Mixed Media Mojo today and I hope that I've inspired you to join in our May Flowers plus Stitching challenge.  Have fun with it, I can't wait to see what you create.

Easy Fabric Flowers

These fabric flowers are easy and quick to make.
Begin by cutting out a circle of card. I drew around a bottle of glossy accents for my circle! Make a small hole in the centre of the circle.
Cut a length of thin fabric, this is a good way to use up all of your off cuts of fabric. Thread the end of the fabric through the hole in the circle and glue it down this will be the back of the flower.

Add glue to the front of the circle. Twist and keep twisting the length of fabric and press it down into the glue keep twisting and turning the fabric around to form the circle. When you have reached the end of the fabric fold the length underneath and glue to to the back of the flower.

You can make any size of flower and by using all of your lovely fabric off cuts you can create an amazing array of colourful flowers!

Home

Hello Everyone! It's Lucyna here! Today I'd like to share with you a journal page I have recently made. As I am moving soon, all I can think about now is my new home.

I started with gluing some old book scraps to my page and painting all in green.

Next I stamped some some charts images with black ink.

Then a flowery frame was stamped and heat embossed. I have also added some stenciled Inka Gold metal gloss paint.

After that I draw and fussy cut the letters, roofs and flowers. I have added some stamping and outlining to embellish the page.

I hope I have inspired you to be creative and join our current challenge. We are always happy to see you at Mixed Media Mojo.

Tag Book

Today I'd like to share a tag book that I've decorated.
I can't remember where I got the book from, it's been in my stash for years.

The finished cover.

This is the book before it was altered.

The inside of the book.

I painted the front and back covers with gesso and glued some lace on them, then I stencilled some circles with crackle paste, I painted the covers with acrylic paint and stamped some white circles and black script.
 This is the front cover.

This is the back.

I decorated the front by stamping some flowers onto a gelli print, I cut them out and stitched them to some material. I glued it to the front cover and added some dewdrops to the centre of the flowers.

A close up of the flowers.

A close up of the crackle paste circles.

I coloured the pages with acrylic paint and a brayer, then I stamped the flowers and some squares.

I stamped some script with white acrylic paint..

I stamped some flowers in the background and then stamped the main flowers, I also stamped them onto some gelli prints and cut them out, I glued them over the stamped flowers on the pages.

The backside.

I added the words and quotes, then I covered the pages with matte medium. I added some more colour and shadows with Faber-Castell Pitt Pens.

The backside.

Below are some close ups of the pages.
I used Paper/Artsy stamps apart from a couple of quotes, I'm not sure who made them.

 Thank you for looking.
