Guest Designer Ann Chuang

Today we Welcome our Guest Designer the extremely talented Ann Chuang.I would like to say a special thank you to Ann, as she very kindly sent me her wonderful project early so I could schedule it before my op.

Hello everyone!

My name is Ann Chuang. I live in Taiwan. I am a junior high school math teacher and a mom. I started crafting about 2012. At that time, I started making very simple cards that would take me hours to make, but the look of pure joy that people give you after receiving a handmade card is worth every second! Now, I also love to dabble in Mixed Media. I have always liked creating, inspiration comes from random places. I have no set style and don't really want to. I'm looking forward to sharing my creations with all of you!

Give the historians something to write about

Hi everyone, Ann is here today for Mixed Media Wednesday to share a project with you that was inspired by Dina Wakley’s Art Journal Freedom Chapter 7 Contrast with color.

I have a quick tutorial on how I made my mixed media art journal, hope you will enjoy it.

 

1.Cover the page with Gesso. Let it dry.

2.Paint the middle third of page with ruby Acrylic Paints.

3.Place a stencil over the painted areas. Use a damp rag to rub through the stencil and remove some of the paint.

4.Dab lime Acrylic Paints through the stencils on the right side.

 

 

5.Adhere washi tape on the lower edge and stamped randomly.

6.Stamp a focal image and sentiment onto the smooth white cardstock. Cut out them. I used a white poster paint Sharpie to outline the image.

7.Glue the focal image and the sentiment onto the page.

8.Stamp the handwritten word along the image left edge.

Hello and welcome, Lucyna here today for Mixed Media Monday to share
a project with you that was inspired by our September Challenge:
BACK TO SCHOOL.
I have made a journal page and I hope you will enjoy a few picture of the process. 

I started with gluing some papers. I have also made some pieces adding texture paste through the stencils. I gave all the wash of clear gesso.

Than I coloured all using a funny children's tool Magic Blow Felt-Tip Pens.

I liked the effect!

Now it was time for some inks through the stencil, some stamping and  adding some shading.

I finished the page by adding some multiplication table and stickers  I got from the bookshop.

A notebook

Good morning Crafty Friends!

Lucyna here. Today I want to show you  my take on our current challenge theme ,,BACK TO SCHOOL".

It is a small( 10x14 cm) altered notebook.

I started with covering the both sides with black gesso.

                                                  

Next I added some die cuts for nice texture.

                                                 

Then I put some modelling paste through the stencil for some more interesting texture.

  

 I have painted some crafty canvas with my acrylics.

 

Next I made some colorful diecuts and attached them to the covers. 

                                                   

Than I stamped them.

I finished my piece with colouring some chipboard letters which I added to the cover.

Back to school matchbox drawers and books

Hello, I hope everyone has had a good summer. Its my most favourite time of the year, and it's always sad to see it slip into Autumn. It's now time for children to return to school so this months challenge is Back to School with a Twist of Primary Colours.

I made this little set of drawers with a little girl making the best of her last days of school holidays, and happily flying her kite .

You can find many templates for matchboxes on Google. When you have found the one you like, print it onto card and carefully cut it out. I decided to make a three drawer box. Before assembling the boxes I coloured each one in primary colours. I used ink dusters to apply the dye inks. The boxes could also be covered in pretty papers, we all have plenty of those!

 

I stacked the boxes on top of one another and used PVA glue to keep them in place. A small decorative brad can be added as a handle.

I stamped and water coloured a lovely Phyllis Harris girl stamp. I wanted her to stand up on top of the box so I left a tab on the bottom of the stamp. I folded the tab up and glued it to the top of the box.

A diamond shape cut out of some card works well as a kite. I adhered it to some wire and placed it on top of the match box to appear as if the girl is holding on to it.

Now what to put inside the drawers? You could put small sweets or mini gifts such as erasers, pencil toppers etc I decided to make some miniature books. I used my Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland and Classic Pooh stamps, to decorate both sides of the miniature accordian books.
